Borrowed Doom

It's not so much

your black, jagged hair

that hides one eye

or the abrupt, dark lines around your

other eye.

It's not so much

the way you stand

with one toe in

or the way you crouch

sadly in the corner

or the studded belts

and layered shirts,

it's not so much the way you look

that worries me

I'm afraid that the darkness

you are playing with will

consume you

and become you.

Darken your hair and your eyes,

but leave a path that leads to

the light

so you can find your way

home.
